Why people keep reordering it
- Clean fuel
- Quality protein and greens without the junk.
- Easy to mix
- Blends smooth into water, milk or a smoothie.
- Recovery and everyday nutrition
- Supports muscle, energy and filling dietary gaps.
Best suited to: trains three or four days a week without dairy, wants iron alongside the protein, drinks breakfast on the way out the door.
What the research supports
A 36 g scoop gives 21 g of fermented plant protein for 140 calories, plus 6 mg of iron. The 740 g tub makes 20 shakes.
Trials use about 25 g of pea protein, twice a day.
- Amino acid completeness (evidence: strong, from human dietary studies)
- Pea is short on methionine and rice is short on lysine. Combining the two is the established way to get a full amino acid profile without animal protein.
- Iron absorption (evidence: strong, from human dietary studies)
- Plant iron like the 6 mg here absorbs at a fraction of the rate animal iron does. Vitamin C taken in the same drink raises that absorption several fold.
- Muscle growth (evidence: moderate, from randomized controlled trial)
- Pea protein at around 25 g twice a day built muscle thickness comparable to whey over 12 weeks of resistance training, in a randomized trial.

Is it right for you
Worth it if
- trains three or four days a week without dairy
- 21 g a scoop of fermented pea and rice covers a post-training serving, and the two proteins fill each other's lysine and methionine gaps.
- wants iron alongside the protein
- 6 mg per scoop, mostly from the cocoa, is a third of the daily iron target for a menstruating adult and the most of any flavour here.
- drinks breakfast on the way out the door
- 140 calories with 21 g of protein, 2 g of fibre and 50 mg of calcium is a more complete start than a bare protein isolate in water.
Look elsewhere if
- already taking an iron supplement daily
- Count the 6 mg per scoop in your daily total, or use the unflavoured version at 5 mg, and check with a practitioner before stacking both. Iron is one of the few nutrients where more is not better.
- buying it for cocoa flavanols
- The cocoa here is alkalized, which strips much of the flavanol content. Non-alkalized cocoa powder or dark chocolate with a stated cocoa percentage keeps more of it.
- counting carbohydrate closely
- 9 g per scoop is the highest in this line. The unflavoured version is 5 g for the same 21 g of protein.
What to expect
Expect a thick chocolate shake in 250 mL of water, thicker than most powders because 36 g of scoop is going in, and filling enough to notice within the first week. Anything to do with muscle or strength depends on your total protein across months, not on this drink.
How it compares
- Compared with a plain pea protein isolate
- The same protein target per serving, plus a fermented produce and mushroom blend, 2 g of fibre, 6 mg of iron and 50 mg of calcium. The tradeoff: A pea isolate is 80 to 90 percent protein by weight and much cheaper per gram of protein. Here you buy 36 g of scoop to get 21 g of protein, and a tub is only about 20 servings.
- Compared with whey protein
- Dairy free and soy free, and it brings fibre, iron and plant micronutrients that whey has none of. The tradeoff: Whey carries more leucine per gram and mixes far thinner. Gram for gram, a pea and rice blend does not match whey's muscle protein synthesis response.
