AOR AOR - N-A-C 500mg, 240 vcaps
AOR N-A-C - N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine, a form of the amino acid cysteine, which is more readily taken up by the cells. NAC is a highly efficient form of cysteine and has a number of health benefits. Cysteine is the most important precursor for glutathione (GSH), one of the body's hardest working antioxidants. NAC also helps heart health, immunity, and detoxification. NAC protects the heart by preventing bad cholesterol from being oxidized, lowering levels of the dangerous amino acid homocysteine, and quenching free radicals to prevent cellular damage. NAC also reduces the viscosity of mucus to help people with diseases such as bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia and cystic fibrosis.

Why people keep reordering it
- Clean fuel
- Quality protein and greens without the junk.
- Easy to mix
- Blends smooth into water, milk or a smoothie.
- Recovery and everyday nutrition
- Supports muscle, energy and filling dietary gaps.
Best suited to: wants a plain nac without extra additives, already knows they need higher-dose nac, dealing with thick mucus and wants a supplement to try alongside their usual care.
What the research supports
Each vegetable capsule delivers 500 mg of N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine. The 240-capsule bottle lasts about eight months at one a day.
Most trials use 600 to 1800 mg a day, often split into doses.
- Antioxidant capacity (evidence: moderate, from human rct, mechanistic)
- NAC supplies cysteine, the piece your body runs out of first when making glutathione, its main internal antioxidant. Human studies consistently show it raises the raw material available for that process.
- Mucus (evidence: moderate, from human rct, mechanistic)
- NAC breaks the bonds that make mucus thick and sticky, so it thins and clears more easily. Respiratory studies show this effect, though results vary with dose and condition.
- Cholesterol protection (evidence: limited, from small human trial, mechanistic)
- NAC's antioxidant activity can blunt the oxidative damage that makes LDL cholesterol more harmful to blood vessels. The human evidence for this at typical doses is still thin.

Is it right for you
Worth it if
- wants a plain NAC without extra additives
- This is straight N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine at 500 mg with only capsule-shell fillers, no proprietary blend to guess at.
- already knows they need higher-dose NAC
- Because it comes in single 500 mg capsules, you can scale to 1000 or 1500 mg a day to match doses used in research.
- dealing with thick mucus and wants a supplement to try alongside their usual care
- NAC's mucolytic action, breaking disulfide bonds in mucus, is its best-documented respiratory use.
Look elsewhere if
- wants a one-and-done daily dose that matches research levels
- look for a product dosed at 600 mg or higher per capsule, or plan to take two to three of these to reach 1000 mg plus per day.
- specifically wants glutathione support with cofactors included
- a formula that pairs NAC with selenium or alpha-lipoic acid will do more for total antioxidant support than NAC alone.
- has a history of kidney stones (cystine type)
- talk to a health care practitioner before adding a cysteine-based supplement, since it can affect cystine levels.
What to expect
Nothing dramatic happens in the first few days. If you're using it for mucus or general antioxidant support, most people who notice a difference report it over two to four weeks of consistent daily use, and it works better as a steady habit than an occasional dose.
How it compares
- Compared with plain L-cysteine
- NAC is absorbed and converted to usable cysteine more reliably than free L-cysteine, which is less stable and less commonly used in supplements. The tradeoff: NAC costs more per gram than basic amino acid powders.
- Compared with liposomal or glutathione-direct supplements
- NAC works by supplying the rate-limiting raw material for the body to make its own glutathione, which is generally cheaper and better studied than swallowing glutathione directly. The tradeoff: You're relying on the body's own synthesis step rather than getting finished glutathione, so effects build more slowly.
