Why people keep reordering it
- Year-round defense
- Daily support for a resilient immune response.
- Antioxidant support
- Helps protect cells from everyday oxidative stress.
- Tradition meets research
- Time-tested ingredients in clinically informed doses.
Best suited to: people whose stomach objects to ascorbic acid, someone holding a gram of vitamin c daily, anyone who wants bioflavonoids alongside the c.
What the research supports
One tablet gives 1,000 mg of vitamin C as Ester-C calcium ascorbate, plus 200 mg of citrus bioflavonoids. The bottle lasts four months.
Absorption studies show blood levels saturate near 400 mg a day.
- Cold symptoms (evidence: moderate, from randomized controlled trial, meta-analysis)
- Vitamin C fuels the white blood cells your immune system relies on day to day. Taking 200 mg or more daily is linked to symptoms clearing modestly faster, though not to getting sick less often.
- Tiredness (evidence: strong, from randomized controlled trial, controlled feeding studies)
- Vitamin C keeps plant iron in the form your gut absorbs best, so more of what's on your plate, beans, lentils, greens, actually gets taken up. That is what prevents the fatigue a real shortfall causes.
- Skin strength (evidence: strong, from randomized controlled trial, controlled feeding studies)
- Vitamin C is a required cofactor for the enzymes that stitch collagen fibers together. Without enough, skin, gums and blood vessel walls are the first to weaken.

Is it right for you
Worth it if
- people whose stomach objects to ascorbic acid
- calcium ascorbate is close to neutral in pH, and that is the difference people actually notice at a gram a day.
- someone holding a gram of vitamin C daily
- one tablet covers the whole gram and the 125 mg of calcium buffers the acid load that a gram of straight ascorbic acid carries.
- anyone who wants bioflavonoids alongside the C
- 200 mg of citrus bioflavonoids is a meaningful inclusion, not the 5 or 10 mg used to justify putting the word on a label.
Look elsewhere if
- anyone whose calcium intake is already managed
- every tablet adds 125 mg of calcium. A plain ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate product keeps your vitamin C and your calcium as two separate decisions.
- anyone told to keep oxalate intake down
- the body converts a share of any gram-level vitamin C dose into oxalate. Holding the daily amount nearer 250 to 500 mg is the usual approach in that situation.
- someone buying it because it absorbs better
- head to head trials of calcium ascorbate against plain ascorbic acid have not shown a consistent blood level advantage. Buy this for the neutral pH, or buy ascorbic acid powder at a fraction of the price per gram.
What to expect
Nothing perceptible. Vitamin C produces no felt effect at any dose. Taken right through the winter it modestly shortens how long a bug drags on, on the order of a day, without changing how often you catch one. Go past your own bowel tolerance and you will find out within a few hours, which is the only feedback this gives you.
How it compares
- Compared with plain ascorbic acid 1,000 mg tablets
- no acidity and no sour bite, plus 200 mg of citrus bioflavonoids and 125 mg of calcium in the same tablet. The tradeoff: ascorbic acid costs a small fraction as much per gram, and the faster absorption long claimed for buffered C does not hold up in direct comparisons.
- Compared with liposomal vitamin C
- far cheaper per gram and far simpler, a single tablet swallowed with breakfast rather than a measured liquid dose. The tradeoff: liposomal delivery does push blood vitamin C higher than the same milligrams in a standard tablet, which is the one thing a large single oral dose cannot do.
