What the research supports

One to two teaspoons a day give 1000 to 2000 mg of organic lion's mane and 800 to 1600 mg of cordyceps. It dissolves into 50 mL of hot water.

Exercise trials use 1 to 3 g of cordyceps a day.

Memory (evidence: limited, from randomized controlled trial): Lion's mane compounds are thought to raise nerve growth factor, supporting brain cell maintenance. A 16-week trial using about 3 g a day improved test scores in older adults, but the gain faded once they stopped taking it.
Exercise capacity (evidence: mixed, from randomized controlled trial): Cordyceps is thought to help the body use oxygen more efficiently during exertion. Trials in older or untrained adults using 1 to 3 g a day found gains in stamina, but trials in trained athletes mostly found nothing.

Wants both mushrooms in one habit: 1000 mg of lion's mane and 800 mg of cordyceps in the same spoon, where buying them apart means two tubs and two measures.
Cutting back on afternoon coffee: No caffeine is added and only cocoa powder brings a trace, so a cup at three has no bearing on the evening.
Has abandoned plain mushroom powder before: Cocoa and monk fruit carry the flavour, which is the only reason most people finish a tin of cordyceps at all.

Look elsewhere if

Wants a lift before training: caffeine at 100 to 200 mg. Nothing here is a stimulant, and the cordyceps trials measured work capacity across six to twelve weeks rather than anything on the day.
Wants lion's mane at the researched amount: plain micronized lion's mane powder, which carries around 3600 mg in a level teaspoon. Reaching 3 grams from this tin takes three teaspoons and empties it in roughly three weeks.
Keeping added sugar out of the morning: unflavoured mushroom powder stirred into coffee, which has none. Under 2 grams a serving is small, but coconut palm sugar is still the largest non-medicinal ingredient in the tin.

What to expect

Nothing from the first cup and nothing in the first fortnight. The lion's mane work measured changes at 8 to 16 weeks of daily use and the cordyceps exercise work ran 6 to 12 weeks, so this is a tin you finish and then buy again before you can judge it. What is immediate is the drink: in 50 mL of water it is thick, dark and only just sweet.

How it compares

Compared with the Clear Mind cacao drink in the same range: Adds 800 mg of cordyceps per teaspoon, which covers the physical stamina side that lion's mane on its own does not touch. The tradeoff: Half the lion's mane per teaspoon, 1000 mg against 2000 mg, so the thinking and memory side of the cup is the weaker of the two.
Compared with lion's mane and cordyceps capsules bought separately: One spoon instead of roughly five capsules, in a form that gets drunk rather than remembered.
