Pure Encapsulations HM Complex - Designed to support antioxidant defense, while promoting healthy liver and immune function. This formula including chlorella, lipoic acid, N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC), selenium and vitamin C, scavenges free radicals. These antioxidants may also help regulate oxidative stress induced by heavy metals – such as mercury, arsenic, cadmium, lead and tin – that results from common, mild environmental exposure. In addition, NAC provides important support for the liver by enhancing glutathione concentration. Similarly, l-methionine, an essential amino acid, supports glutathione production and encourages healthy liver function, including phase II detoxification pathways. HM Complex also contains modified citrus pectin and zinc. The unique characteristic of modified citrus pectin is that it has a low molecular weight, which allows it to easily pass through the intestinal barrier. What the research supports
Three capsules a day give 1,000 mcg of sulforaphane from broccoli sprout plus 1 g of modified citrus pectin. The bottle lasts 30 days.
Sulforaphane trials typically use amounts up to about 1 mg a day.

- Selenium, zinc, NAC, methionine and lipoic acid all feed glutathione and the enzymes that use it, which is the mechanistically solid half of this formula.
- Would otherwise buy three separate bottles
- Selenomethionine, NAC and a standardised sulforaphane extract in one capsule count is fewer purchases than buying each at these doses separately.
Look elsewhere if
- Someone with a confirmed metal exposure
- That needs testing and a practitioner, not a bottle off a shelf. The pectin here is a fifteenth of what the binding research used.
- Already taking selenium or a multivitamin

What to expect
Nothing you will feel. These are enzyme cofactors and antioxidant inputs and there is no sensation attached to them. Three capsules go with meals. If anything shows up in the first week it is usually mild stomach upset from the NAC or an algae aftertaste from the chlorella.

- NAC alone gives one glutathione precursor. This puts selenium, zinc, methionine and sulforaphane around it, which is the wider enzyme system glutathione actually works inside. The tradeoff: 300 mg of NAC is half a standard 600 mg capsule, and the blend costs several times more.
