Each capsule holds 400 mg of micronized PEA, a fatty compound the body makes on its own. Three a day is the label dose, 40 days per bottle.

Discomfort (evidence: moderate, from randomized controlled trial, meta-analysis): PEA acts on the body's own fatty-acid signaling system to calm overactive immune cells called mast cells. Pooled trials at 300 to 1200 mg a day found meaningful drops in reported discomfort over four to eight weeks.
Nerve comfort (evidence: limited, from animal study, mechanistic study, small human trial): PEA is thought to calm the support cells around nerves that drive irritation. That evidence is mostly mechanistic and animal-based, with human trials small and often without a placebo group.

Someone who has read the PEA research: At three capsules this hits 1200 mg daily, the upper trial dose, rather than the 400 mg a once-daily habit would deliver.
Ongoing discomfort with a mast cell flavour: PEA's main described route is calming mast cell activity and signalling through PPAR-alpha, which is a different mechanism from the plant extracts usually sitting beside it.
Anyone who wants an option with a daily ceiling: The whole studied range is 600 to 1200 mg a day, so at 400 mg per capsule you can dose one, two or three and stay inside what has been tested.

Look elsewhere if

Someone who needs relief this afternoon: PEA is a build up compound. Trials measure change over four to eight weeks. For something acute you want a different category entirely, and a conversation with a pharmacist.
A vegan or vegetarian shopper: The PEA itself is from safflower oil, but the capsule shell is gelatin. Look for a PEA in a vegetarian capsule or a powdered form.
Someone testing this on a tight budget: At three a day the bottle lasts under six weeks, which is barely one trial length. If cost is the constraint, a well dosed omega-3 or curcumin gives more weeks per dollar for a first try.

What to expect
