Natural Factors Natural Factors - BioCoenzymated Ultra Strength Active B Complex**, 60 vcap

Natural Factors BioCoenzymated Ultra Strength Active B Complex - A one-a-day balanced formula of eight essential B vitamins in their biologically active forms, which do not require conversion by the liver to be absorbed and utilized. A higher-strength formula than Natural Factors regular Active B Complex. Ultra Strength offers even better coenzyme forms and includes BioPQQ to complement the action of B vitamins. With Farm Fresh Factors, a bioenergetic blend of phytonutrients, for active support of energy metabolism. Suitable for vegetarians and ideal for energy support, especially during stressful times. B vitamins are essential for healthy tissue and red blood cell formation; for the conversion of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into energy; for the synthesis of brain chemicals which support mood, nerves and sleep; for healthy hair, skin, nails, and eyesight; and for maintaining healthy cholesterol, blood sugar, and homocysteine.

Why people keep reordering it

Active methylated forms
B vitamins in the forms your body can put to use right away.
Mood and hormone balance
Supports healthy methylation, mood and hormonal rhythm.
Energy at the cellular level
Feeds the pathways behind steady, real energy.

Best suited to: already on the regular version and wants more b1, wants pantethine inside a daily complex, wants b12 in more than one form.

What the research supports

A full-spectrum B complex in active coenzyme forms, built up with 2.5 mg of PQQ. One capsule daily, 60 to a bottle.

PQQ trials use 20 mg a day.

Heart health (evidence: strong, from randomized controlled trial, meta-analysis)
B6, B12 and folate all feed the pathway that clears a compound called homocysteine from the blood. High homocysteine is tied to heart strain, and together at these amounts the three lower it consistently in trials.
Energy (evidence: strong, from randomized controlled trial, meta-analysis)
B1, B2 and niacin all feed the enzymes that pull energy out of food, and this formula supplies B1 pre-converted so your body skips a conversion step.
Fatigue (evidence: limited, from small randomized controlled trial)
Small human trials of PQQ look at fatigue and sleep quality at 20 mg a day, eight times what this capsule provides, so evidence at this dose is essentially untested.

Is it right for you

Worth it if

Already on the regular version and wants more B1
50 mg from thiamine pyrophosphate, benfotiamine and sulbutiamine, all lipid-soluble or pre-phosphorylated, rather than 31.7 mg led by thiamine hydrochloride.
Wants pantethine inside a daily complex
The 150 mg of B5 here includes pantethine, the form one step from coenzyme A, which almost no B complex carries.
Wants B12 in more than one form
Adenosylcobalamin is the form used inside mitochondria and methylcobalamin the one used in the cytosol. Most products supply only one.

Look elsewhere if

Pregnant or breastfeeding
The label rules this one out outright. A prenatal covers the B vitamins at amounts formulated for pregnancy, and the regular Active B Complex only asks for a practitioner check rather than ruling it out.
Buying it mainly for the PQQ
A standalone PQQ at 20 mg a day is what the research used. 2.5 mg will not get you there no matter how many capsules you take.
Wants more niacin than the regular version
This has less. If niacin is what you are after, the regular Active B Complex carries 100 mg, and a standalone nicotinic acid carries more.

What to expect

Bright yellow urine within hours, from the 15 mg of riboflavin 5-phosphate. Beyond that, nothing fast. B complex trials measuring self-rated stress and fatigue found their differences over 4 to 12 weeks of daily use.

How it compares

Compared with the regular BioCoenzymated Active B Complex
More B1 in more lipid-soluble forms, pantethine folded into the B5, three B12 forms instead of one, and PQQ added. The tradeoff: It costs more, it actually carries less niacin at 30 mg against 100 mg, and it is ruled out during pregnancy and breastfeeding where the regular version is only a practitioner check.
