The psyllium fiber contains numerous “pockets” that entrap curcumin, offering several key advantages namely for bowel regularity. The controlled release formulation ensures curcumin is slowly and consistently released over time. Additionally, the curcumin is protected from degradation by gastric acid, pancreatic enzymes and bile salts, allowing for higher bioavailability. The gel-like matrix of psyllium delivers curcumin directly to the colon, where it is released at the optimal pH. This targeted delivery ensures that curcumin reaches the colon undegraded and in high concentration, unlike regular curcumin, which is degraded by the time this antioxidant rich nutrient reaches the colon.
