What the research supports

Each capsule blends eight enzymes covering starch, protein, fat and fibre, with lactase for dairy and alpha-galactosidase for beans. Three a day, for a month's supply.

Enzyme blends are judged on activity units rather than a research dose. Take it with the first bite of the meal, since an enzyme has to be mixed into food to act on it.

Bean gas (evidence: moderate, from small human rcts)

Beans and lentils contain sugars your gut cannot break down alone, which bacteria then ferment into gas. Alpha-galactosidase splits those sugars before that happens, and human trials show less bloating after bean-heavy meals.

Lactose digestion (evidence: moderate, from small human rcts)

Without enough lactase, milk sugar passes undigested into the colon where bacteria ferment it, causing cramping and gas. Supplemental lactase breaks it down earlier, before those symptoms start.

The combined amylase, protease and lipase help break down starch, protein and fat in a mixed meal, which is what most everyday sluggish digestion involves.

Mild gas after eating beans, lentils or cruciferous vegetables

The alpha-galactosidase targets the oligosaccharides in those foods that your gut otherwise ferments into gas.

Occasional mild dairy sensitivity

The 3,000 ALU of lactase can help with small amounts of lactose in a meal, though it's not a high-dose lactase product.

Look elsewhere if

Diagnosed pancreatic enzyme insufficiency

That needs a prescription pancreatic enzyme replacement product at a much higher, medically-dosed strength, not a general fungal enzyme blend.

Significant lactose intolerance with a full glass of milk or ice cream

Look for a standalone lactase supplement with a much higher unit count per dose, taken right before the dairy.

Corn allergy

This product should be avoided outright per its own caution, so pick an enzyme formula that explicitly states it's free of corn-derived ingredients.

What to expect

Any effect happens with the meal it's taken alongside, generally within an hour or two as digestion occurs, so there's nothing to notice the next day. If bloating or gas after certain meals eases, that's the sign it's doing something; if your digestion was already comfortable, you likely won't feel a difference.
