AOR AOR - Benfotiamine 80 mg, 120 vcaps
AOR Benfotiamine - A naturally-occurring lipophilic form of thiamin (vitamin B1). Benfotiamine's superior ability to penetrate cell membranes increases its bioavailability over conventional thiamin supplements, thiamin pyrophosphate, and other allithiamines. Benfotiamine is a powerful "late-phase" inhibitor of Advanced Glycation Endproduct (AGE) formation, acting through several mechanisms to reduce the irreversible non-enzymatic modification of the structure and function of bodily proteins by sugars, resulting in documented maintenance of the structure and function of retinal, nervous, glomerulal, and other tissues. Benfotiamine relieves the symptoms of diabetic neuropathy and may reduce the risk of diabetic complications.

Why people keep reordering it
- Active methylated forms
- B vitamins in the forms your body can put to use right away.
- Mood and hormone balance
- Supports healthy methylation, mood and hormonal rhythm.
- Energy at the cellular level
- Feeds the pathways behind steady, real energy.
Best suited to: someone whose practitioner recommended benfotiamine specifically, people with consistently high sugar intake wanting a b1 form that penetrates tissue well.
What the research supports
One capsule is 80 mg of benfotiamine, a fat-soluble form of vitamin B1. The 120-capsule bottle lasts four months at one a day.
Nerve studies use 300 to 600 mg a day.
- Nerve comfort (evidence: moderate, from randomized controlled trials)
- Benfotiamine crosses into cells more easily than regular B1, so it reaches nerve tissue that ordinary thiamine struggles to supply. Trials using 300 to 600 mg a day report better nerve comfort over several weeks.

Is it right for you
Worth it if
- Someone whose practitioner recommended benfotiamine specifically
- An 80 mg capsule makes it easy to build up to a practitioner-directed dose of 240 mg or more per day in even increments.
- People with consistently high sugar intake wanting a B1 form that penetrates tissue well
- Benfotiamine's lipophilic structure gets it into cells more effectively than standard thiamin, which is the reason it's chosen over cheaper B1 forms for this purpose.
Look elsewhere if
- Anyone just wanting general B-vitamin coverage
- A B-complex or multivitamin with standard thiamin (thiamin HCl or mononitrate) covers everyday B1 needs at a fraction of the cost.
- Someone expecting noticeable nerve support from one capsule a day
- Look for a product or dosing plan that reaches 300 to 600 mg daily, since that is the range used in the research this ingredient is known for.
What to expect
Because this addresses ongoing tissue-level processes tied to sugar exposure, it is not something you feel within days. Studies using adequate doses tracked changes over 6 to 12 weeks, and even then benefits were measured, not felt as an immediate sensation.
How it compares
- Compared with standard thiamin (thiamin mononitrate or HCl)
- Benfotiamine is fat-soluble and passes through cell membranes more efficiently, letting more of it reach tissues like nerves rather than being excreted. The tradeoff: It costs more per milligram than plain thiamin, and if all you need is baseline B1 intake, that extra absorption is unnecessary spending.
