What the research supports

Each capsule gives 50 mg of elemental magnesium from 667 mg of magnesium L-threonate, the form studied for raising magnesium in the brain. The bottle holds 120 capsules.

Trials use about 1.5 to 2 g of magnesium L-threonate a day.

Memory (evidence: limited, from randomized controlled trial, animal studies): Threonate crosses into the brain more readily than other magnesium forms in animal studies. One human trial found better memory scores in older adults at about 2 g a day, three capsules here.
Energy (evidence: strong, from human clinical trials, meta-analysis): Magnesium is required to release energy from food at the cellular level. This capsule only supplies 50 mg, a small slice of a day's need, so it works best alongside other magnesium intake.

Worth it if

Already taking magnesium, wants the threonate form: Three capsules match the 2 g of magnesium L-threonate used in the human study, and 150 mg elemental on top of an existing intake is a sensible amount.
Wants the actual compound, not a garnish: 667 mg of magnesium L-threonate per capsule is stated on the panel, rather than a token amount buried in a blend.
Sensitive to larger mineral doses: 50 mg of elemental magnesium per capsule is a light load on the gut, so it rarely causes the loosening a 200 mg citrate dose can.

Look elsewhere if

Buying magnesium for cramps or regularity: Bisglycinate for cramps, citrate for regularity, both at 200 mg elemental per serving and a small fraction of the cost per milligram.
Trying to cover a full day of magnesium: You would need six or more capsules a day to reach 300 mg elemental. One 200 mg bisglycinate capsule gets most of the way there.

Compared with a magnesium oxide tablet: A stated, intact chelate at 667 mg per capsule, against an oxide salt where only a small share of the magnesium is taken up. The tradeoff: Price, plainly.
