Medi-C Plus Medi-C Plus - Vitamin C & L-Lysine Formula w/Magnesium Ascorbate Citrus Flavour, 1 kg
Medi-C Plus with Magnesium Ascorbate - Citrus Flavour - Vitamin C & L-Lysine Formula with Magnesium Ascorbate. Humans do not make Vitamin C like animals do, we need to supplement this essential vitamin to meet our daily needs. Vitamin C and Lysine work together to build collagen, which strengthens and holds together the coronary cells. Inadequate amounts of Vitamin C means poor collagen production. Coronary cells then fall apart just as bricks do without a good mortar. Coronary arteries, closest to the heart, receive the greatest pressure and without enough vitamin C the collagen weakens. This sets the stage for a heart attack. The work of Dr. Sydney Bush shows that vitamin C + lysine can help reverse the process.

Why people keep reordering it
Best suited to: someone taking gram level vitamin c daily, people whose stomach objects to ascorbic acid, anyone deliberately feeding collagen synthesis, someone who will not swallow four tablets.
What the research supports
One scoop mixes 2000 mg of vitamin C and 1300 mg of L-lysine into water or juice. The 1 kg tub lasts about seven months.
Vitamin C studies use 500 to 2000 mg a day; lysine studies use 1 to 3 g a day.
- Collagen formation (evidence: strong, from biochemical evidence, human deficiency studies)
- Vitamin C activates the enzymes that link collagen strands together, and lysine supplies one of the amino acids used to build them. Together they're the raw materials and the trigger.
- Immunity (evidence: moderate, from biochemical evidence)
- Vitamin C helps white blood cells work and move to where they're needed. Regular intake at this dose has modestly shortened how long a cold lasts in some trials.
- Cold sores (evidence: mixed, from )
- Lysine may block a virus's ability to use the amino acid arginine it needs to replicate. Trials on whether that lowers cold sore frequency give inconsistent results.

Is it right for you
Worth it if
- Someone taking gram level vitamin C daily
- 2,000 mg in a single scoop, most of it buffered as magnesium ascorbate, which is much less acidic than the same dose of straight ascorbic acid.
- People whose stomach objects to ascorbic acid
- Magnesium ascorbate is a mineral salt rather than a free acid, so it is easier to hold down at gram doses than plain vitamin C powder.
- Anyone deliberately feeding collagen synthesis
- Vitamin C and lysine act at the same step of collagen assembly, so 2,000 mg with 1,300 mg is a real biochemical pairing rather than a marketing bundle.
- Someone who will not swallow four tablets
- A gram level vitamin C dose is several tablets. This is one scoop stirred into a glass and done.
Look elsewhere if
- Anyone who wants magnesium for sleep or cramps
- The 210 mg here is a by-product, not the feature. Magnesium bisglycinate at 200 to 400 mg elemental is what that job asks for, without 2,000 mg of vitamin C attached to it.
- People who get loose stools from vitamin C
- Bowel tolerance for some people sits well under 2,000 mg. Start at half a scoop, or use 500 mg capsules where you control the step size.
- Someone already getting vitamin C in a multi
- Adding this puts you past the daily upper limit. Pick one or the other, and if the amino acid is what you want, plain L-lysine is sold on its own.
What to expect
Vitamin C and lysine do not produce a sensation. What you notice at this dose is either nothing, or loose stools within a few hours if you are past your own bowel tolerance, which is the signal to halve the scoop. Anything collagen related in skin or connective tissue is a matter of months, and subtle even then.
How it compares
- Compared with plain ascorbic acid powder
- This is buffered as magnesium ascorbate, so it is far easier on the stomach at gram doses, and it brings 1,300 mg of lysine and 210 mg of magnesium along with it. The tradeoff: Ascorbic acid powder costs a small fraction as much per gram of vitamin C and lets you set your own dose, where here all three actives are locked into one ratio.
- Compared with separate vitamin C and L-lysine capsules
- One scoop stands in for about four 500 mg vitamin C tablets plus two or three lysine capsules, and it dissolves rather than sitting in the stomach as a tablet mass. The tradeoff: Buying them apart lets you raise the lysine without raising the vitamin C, which this powder makes impossible.
